GM Yuri Drozdovskij from Odessa (Ukraine) won the
European Rapid Chess Championship (6th AMPLICO AIG LIFE Rapid Tournament) which took place 16-17 December 2006 in the Torwar Hall in Warsaw (Poland) during the 25th Memorial of Stanislaw Gawlikowski.

The "Galaxias" Chess Club of Thessaloniki and the Greek Chess Federation have the honour of inviting National Chess Federations, School Sports Associations and school chess champions to participate in the 3rd WORLD SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP organised in Kallithea, Halkidiki-Greece from 27th April (Arrival) to 6th of May (Departure) 2007.

Nigel Short (England) has won the
Commonwealth Chess Championship 2006 in Mumbai, India (November 19-29, 2006). He scored nine points from ten games (rating performance 2798). The women's title took Dronavalli Harika (India) with 7.0/10.

Everybody can take part in the 6th Amplico AIG Life International Chess Tournament (Warsaw, December 16-17), which is at the same time a European Rapid Chess Championship. It is an exceptional opportunity to have a battle against the strongest Polish and international chess players.

7th International Chess Festival LIBEREC OPEN 2006 and 5th European Veterans Championship in Draughts have been finished on Saturday 18th November 2006. This event was held under the financial support of the Liberec city and it took place within the frame of the 6th CZECH TOUR Series.
