Göteborg is the second largest city of Sweden with some 500.000 inhabitants and situated at the westcoast in the heart of the exotic Scandinavia! At this time, June-August, Göteborg is a fantastic tourist city with shops, parks, sports events, entertainment in 5-10 minutes walking distance from the CHESS-CENTRE. It's summertime and we can almost promise that the weather will be sun and app. 20-30 C.

On September 10-11, 2005, the traditional 4th open rapid (20'+10") tournament "Kavala 2005" was held in Kavala, Greece. The winner, Ilias Kazantzidis, scored a 100% result, outplaying much stronger ranked opponents! Ilias is 12 years old, a member of the 1st team of the Kavala Chess Club (which is coached and captained by myself, I am only proud to add), with whom we recently won this years professional 1st Division Team Championship and also won the prize for the best junior board result.

Palm Beach Gardens, California Former women's world chess champion Susan Polgar from Hungary broke four international records this week after playing more than 1 100 games over 17 hours.
Polgar set a world record for the largest number of simultaneous games played when she had 326 games going at once on Monday afternoon. Of those matches, she won 309, tied 14 draws and lost three.

He is tall, wears his hair in a pony tail, and plays a distinctive brand of chess where he enters risky lines and wrings out victory or draw.
He won the European championship in Warsaw last weekend, beating Alexander Beliavsky in the last round, to score 10 points out 13 rounds. Teimour Radjabov came in second with 9.5 points.
Will this result provide the impetus to finally catapult Nisipeanu to the 2700 Elo rating club, where he deservedly belongs?
