ECU - ACP meeting in Plovdiv

The Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) reports, that an ECU - ACP meeting took place during the European Individual Chess Championship in Plovdiv, on April 27th 2008. Both the ECU and the ACP were represented by 4 members of their boards:
ECU: Boris Kutin (President), Vladimir Sakotic, Werner Stubenvoll; Gerry Walsh.
ACP: Sergei Movsesian, Yannick Pelletier, Emil Sutovsky, Pavel Tregubov.

A report on this meeting was published on May 12th and a Statement on tournament fees problem at the European Individual Championship 2008 was published on May 18th.

Kateryna Lahno honoured in Donetsk

Mr Aleksandr Lukyanchenko, Mayor of Donetsk (Ukraine), congratulated GM Kateryna Lahno for winning the European Individual Chess Championship 2008 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) in the women's section. According to a resolution of the City Council, Kateryna Lahno was awarded a certificate and a medal "For Services to the City".

Budva 2009

During the European Chess Championship 2008 in Plovdiv, Montenegro made an impressive presentation of Budva as the venue of the European Individual Chess Championship 2009 for men (March 14-28, 2009). The presentation was attended by ECU President Boris Kutin, ECU vice-president Garry Walsh, former women's World Champion Grandmaster Nona Gaprindashvili, a host of chess activists, arbiters, organizers, and chess lovers.
