Dear Friends,

Circular Letter No. 11/2004

Unfortunately the negotiations about the venue and the exact dates of the European Individual Championship 2005 are not yet finished but still in progress. There are some extremely promising talks, which will be finalized by the end of this year.

As announced at our General Assembly in Calvià, the Dutch Chess Federation is going to organize an international congress “Chess at Schools” in Enschede from 7 to 12 November 2005. This project is supposed to be supported by the European Union within the Socrates Programme (Accompanying Measures). We now ask you – whether representing EU countries or not – to inform us by the end of December whether your federation is prepared to act as co-organizer. The more federations are involved the better the chances to receive substantial shares of the total costs from the EU. Attached you will find the description of the project.

We are preparing the publication of the ECU Manual 2005. A main part of the contents will be the details about all federations. Please check the current Manual (2003) and let us know all names, functions and addresses of your representatives you would like having printed in it.
