Dear Friends,

Circular Letter No. 2/2006

ECU received three excellent offers for the European Individual Championship 2007. They came from Budapest, Dresden and Warsaw. Finally the President Boris Kutin has decided to grant these championships (open group and women) to Dresden/Germany.

Concerning the forthcoming European Individual Championship in Kusadasi, we have been informed by the Turkish Chess Federation that the bird flu does not affect the life in this region anymore. The exception is that for the time being chicken and turkey food are not served in the hotels. For further information, please contact the International Health Organization (www.WHO.com.

Attached you will find the official invitation for the European Women’s Rapid Championship being held in Znojmo/Czech Republic on 13 and 14 May 2006. We hope that a lot of players will participate in this championship.

The dates and the venue of this year’s European Youth Championship have changed. The Chess Federation of Serbia & Montenegro will host this event in Herceg Novi from 9 to 20 September. Immediately thereafter (20 to 24 September) the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Championship will take place in the same venue.

Attached you will find an updated ECU Tournament Calendar. We have included all information we could gather up to now.

The German Chess Federation has fixed the dates of the Bundesleague 2006/07 (National Team Championship):
28/29 October 2006
24/25 February 2007
18/19 November 2006
